6 month agoKFOR statement: The number of peace-keepers wounded during yesterday's unprovoked violence in the municipality of Zvecan is 30. 11 soldiers from the Italian contingent and 19 from the Hungarian contingent sustained multiple injuries, including fractures and burns from improvised explosive incendiary devices.

6 month agoKFOR statement:This morning, the NATO-led FOR mission has increased its presence in the four Municipalities of northern Kosovo, following the latest developments in the area. The aim of KFOR's presence is to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo, in accordance with its mandate from the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999.
Secretary Blinken: We strongly condemn the actions by the Government of Kosovo that are escalating tensions in the north and increasing instability. We call on Prime Minister @albinkurti to immediately halt these violent measures and refocus on the EU-facilitated Dialogue.
In Zvecan, one of the Serb-majority municipalities in northern Kosovo, a @Kosovo_Police car has been set on fire as Kosovo Serbs rebel against Albanian mayors entering the municipality buildings following the election boycott by Belgrade-aligned structures.
#Serbia President Vucic placed the army on full combat alert and ordered its units to move closer to the border with #Kosovo after protesters and police clashed in a majority Serb town in Kosovo. Clashes in the town of Zvecan erupted after a crowd gathered in front of the municipality building, trying to prevent a newly-elected ethnic Albanian mayor from entering his office. Police fired teargas to disperse protestors.
